(Alisos Canyon Vineyard, Santa Barbara County)
Our 2015 Grenache was hand harvested on the morning of September 21, 2017. We sorted and cold soaked our fruit in 1.5T open top bins for four days prior to fermentation. We began fermentation using a non-saccahromyces yeast strain to enhance complexity and improve mouthfeel. After 7-10 days we re-innoculated using a saccahromyces strain to enhance the varietal character of our Grenache. Post fermentation, the wine was pressed, settled and gently racked to 33% new French Oak barriques of Ermitage pedigree for 15 months. The wine was never racked while in barrel until it was gently moved to the bottling tank 15 months later. Aromas of fresh market strawberry are released with each swirl in the glass. A slightly herbaceous note also is released and is quite lovely. On the palate our 2015 Grenache satisfies your desire for red fruit, vibrant acidity, plush mouthfeel and light structure. Pair this with everyday hearty cuisine at home or your favorite Middle Eastern dishes.
